At Gateway, our focus is on creating sanctuaries that refresh, refuel and renew with an accent on health and wellness. The benefits of yoga have been known for centuries now and they are only more relevant in today's times. This is probably the first time in the world that a hotel chain has offered in room yoga. Believing in the efficacy of Yoga, we decided to offer to our guests a choice of regimens. With the yoga mat in the room and 24/7 videos, guests can choose to practice whenever they wish.


After researching various schools of yoga, we short listed the Bihar School of Yoga in the manner founded by Swami Satyananda. The Bihar Yoga Tradition is globally renowned for its pure, simple and systematic yoga practices. It is easy to learn by people at any physical, mental or spiritual level. This style has also beautifully interwoven the philosophy of Karma yoga, Jnana yoga and Bhakti yoga, in the intricate practices of Hatha yoga, Raja yoga and Tantra yoga. Thus it truly represents the harmony of all the aspects of life.


Guests can choose among three CDs that play 24/7 on the in house TV channels. The first regimen consists of asanas that allow specific muscles and ligaments to gently stretch and relax in coordination to the proper movements of bones at their joints. Regular practice of these asanas removes body stiffness, improves blood circulation, increases stamina and corrects the body alignment. The second regimen is of Pranayamas – a few breathing techniques which besides energising the body, influence the neuro-endocrinal system to improve body metabolism, and produce a balance of body and mind. The third regimen is Yoga Nidra, a technique of relaxation and meditation. Regular practice of Yoga Nidra sharpens mental awareness and removes fatigue.
