One of the four historic cities where holy pilgrimage Kumbh Mela takes place, Nashik is located 187 km from Mumbai. It features landmarks integral to Hindu mythology and the freedom struggle, and also is home to many temples, bathing ghats, a currency mint, a large military centre and various industries. This pretty, well-planned city is surrounded by nine hills and a number of lakes, as well as the Godavari and Girna rivers.
